I fear God, and hope He has a sense of humor; otherwise, I'm toast. Literally...-John Gregory Parks

A Man of Sorrows

He is despised and rejected by men,
A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;
He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.
Isaiah 53:3

Jesus was a man of sorrows, but the sorrows were not His own. His sorrow then, as now, is the condition of humanity, the lost, and the suffering. If you think about it, Jesus not only carried His burdens, but ours. In fact, He carried ours to the cross.

Jesus knew grief. He wept at the death of Lazarus, (John 11:35). He also wept over the city of Jerusalem(Luke 19:41). I believe that He weeps today; over people that do not know Him, and nations that have turned away from Him. It is funny to think that we can cause the King of Kings, Lord of Lords, pain and sorrow. He does not want one of us to be lost, and condemned to an eternity in hell. Yet, we willingly push Him away as people and nations.

He is our Shepherd, our Savior, and our Salvation. As He looks for us among this lost world, we must be humble and willing accept the free gift of Salvation that  He bought for us. Even now He is looking for you.

What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ 7 I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.
Luke 15: 4-5

    I only worry about the things I can control; as I control nothing, I have no worries.
